Elsa Desmond

Elsa is currently the only senior Irish luge athlete racing internationally, as well as being Co-Founder of the Irish Luge Federation. After starting sliding in Innsbruck, Austria, as a teenager, Elsa quickly progressed to the World Cup circuit. In 2022 she made history becoming the first Luge athlete to represent Ireland in luge at the Olympics. Elsa also manages the Luge Ireland Youth Development Program, for junior and recreational athletes, using her own experience as an athlete to create a structured and supported development pathway. When she is not on the ice Elsa works in Iceland as a Doctor in emergency medicine, her goal is to one day work for the Air Ambulance.
